Brighten the Corners possesses cool cover with art which reminds me of Ka-Zar (a sort of land that time forgot pre-historic Tarzan with a sabre-toothed tiger as his best friend) one of my favourite Marvel comic book characters of my childhood. Three songs, which occur at the start, mid and end point of the album define this album for me/5(14).

Brighten the Corners is mature but wise-assed, melodic but complex -- it's a record that reveals its gifts gradually, giving you enough information the first time to make you want come back for more.8/

The Shady Lane/Slowly Typed Single is the most disappointing of the three singles released from the Brighten the Corners sessions. Both "Slowly Typed" and "Cherry Area" are alternate versions of "Type Slowly" and "Embassy Row," respectively. "Slowly Typed" is essentially a country version of "Type Slowly," which is rather boring.
